Poem – Fear no Competition

By Pr. Mohamed Oujetti

That your poetry is better than mine
Is something you really cannot claim;
Nor can I really do the same;
For poetry is forged in this smithy of the soul,
Laminated in the mill of the heart,
and that is the latter’s role.
Poems are unique, inimitable;
They are the selfies of the soul
And therefore incomparable;
They bear your digital fingerprint
And your genetic imprint.
They may sometimes do you justice
And represent and reflect your heart
And the true image of yourself
Well enough, but they may disfigure
And distort your picture altogether.
It all depends on your style;
And if your art and insights are worthwhile
You need not fear any competition.
