Morocco Begins Exploitation of Tendrara Gas Field (VIDEO)

Morocco’s minister of Minister of Energy, Mines and Sustainable Development, Aziz Rabah, has a signed a contract granting exploitation of natural gas in the field of Tendrara in the East of Morocco to the British Sound EnergyMorocco and its Moroccan counterpart, Merjida Limited. The contract is binding for a period of 25 years and is overseen by National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM).

 

The minister who stated that the contract has now become effective clarified in a statement to the PJD.ma that the license was granted to the British company after it filed a request in accordance with the requirements of the code of hydrocarbons under effect, and after the existence of natural gas and the possibility of exploitation have been confirmed.

 

The British firm previously announced that it had allocated USD 184 million to the setup of pipelines linking the new gas field with European markets and the establishment of a gas processing plant near the area of Tendrara.
