Tangier, A Writer’s Mecca

 

 

Tangier, the northern Moroccan city, has a very long history that intertwined with histories of many civilizations and cultures, mainly due to its geo-strategic position. In one if these historical contexts, Tangier was an international zone (between 1923 and Morocco’s independence in 1956) under the protectorate of a handful of countries that gave it certain political peculiarities that turned into a writers’ Mecca.
